
Winchester, Va. - The Meredith lacrosse program traveled to Shenandoah University Saturday afternoon and dropped its season opener 17-5 at Aikens Stadium.
Meredith (0-1) fell down quickly 5-1 in the first quarter of action. Junior Jessica Dowdy tallied the lone first-quarter goal for the Angels and added another goal and an assist later in the contest. Dowdy also tallied eight draw controls and two groundballs
Shenandoah (1-0) headed into the halftime break with a 9-3 advantage. Junior Arrianna May scored in the second quarter along with Dowdy. Senior Tori Witmer was credited with the assist on the May goal.
The freshman pair of Reese Walker and Brooke Blades also scored the first goals of their Avenging Angels career.
The Angels are back in action next Saturday, Feb. 25th when they host Virginia Wesleyan for their home opener at 1 p.m.
