RALEIGH, N.C. -- Meredith College's first-year varsity program of women's golf was tabbed sixth in the USA South Preseason Coaches Poll as announced this week from the conference office. The Avenging Angels will host Capital University Monday, Feb. 24, at home course, Wildwood Green Golf Club, to kickstart the spring season.
Methodist was the top selection in the poll with five first-place votes. Huntingdon landed second with the remaining vote, as head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.
Meredith Head Coach Jimmy Hamilton will direct his young team of new intercollegiate athletes through four tournaments this spring. Next up, the Angels will head to Longleaf Country Club in Pinehurst just before Spring Break, hosted by the Sandhills Community College Flyers. Another two-day event begins March 21 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Virginia Wesleyan will host the Marlin Invitational at Cypress Point Golf Course.
The Avenging Angels will close out the season at the USA South Spring Festival in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, at Belmont Lake Golf Club in late April.
Hamilton began his tenure at Meredith two years ago when the college began a two-year club program.
