  • USA South/Meredith Postpone Fall Sports Competition

    the USA South President's Council ultimately voted unanimously to postpone fall sports competition. With the safety of student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, and other athletics staff at the forefront, the fall sports of volleyball, soccer, cross country, and football will shift to spring 2021.
  • Record 27 Avenging Angels Earn All-Academic Honors with Distinction

    The USA South Conference awarded sixty-two Meredith College Avenging Angels All-Academic honors as announced Wednesday from the league office. Twenty-seven student-athletes received a notation of With Distinction for demonstrating a exceptional academic success, more than double the number since the conference enhanced the award in 2018.

  • Meredith Golf Hosts Capital Crusaders

    The Meredith College women's golf team hosted its first match Monday as the Capital University Crusaders traveled to Raleigh to enjoy better North Carolina weather. But under cold, rainy conditions, CU finished off the Angels 4-1 at Wildwood Green Golf Club, Meredith's home course and site of the Annual Golf Classic in April.

    Meredith College's first-year varsity program of women's golf was tabbed sixth in the USA South Preseason Coaches' Poll as announced this week from the conference office. The Avenging Angels will host Capital University Monday, Feb. 24, at home course, Wildwood Green Golf Club, to kickstart the spring season.

    Meredith College Head Golf Coach Jimmy Hamilton was named one of the top-10 best instructors in North Carolina by Golf Digest, as voted on by his peers. He earned the same recognition between the years of 2003 and 2006.

    As part of the USA South's Cans Across the Conference competition, the Meredith College Avenging Angels collected 1,150 non-perishable food items and donated to the Raleigh Rescue Mission. With 18 member institutions, the league presented 69,387 items to local organizations across the wide footprint of the conference.

    The Meredith College golf team capped off their first fall season as a varsity program at the Revolutionary Classic hosted by Ursinus College. Sarah Wallace posted a two-round 175 good for 16th place on the 6,244-yard par-71 Chesapeake Bay Golf Club.

    The Meredith College golf team wrapped up a two-round tournament at Scotch Meadows Country Club Monday afternoon hosted by St. Andrews University. Led by Allyson Nowell, who finished 18th overall, the Avenging Angels placed fourth on the par-72, 6,112-yard course.

  • Meredith College to Add Two New Sports

    Meredith College has announced plans to add two new sports, bringing the Avenging Angels to ten sports. The most immediate addition shifts the two-year club golf program to varsity status beginning this fall. In Fall 2020, Meredith will add field hockey to the atheltics lineup.
