RALEIGH, N.C. -- In alignment with all 18 USA South Women's Basketball programs, Meredith College will host a #BlockOutCancer event this season to support Greensboro Head Coach Randy Tuggle in his fight against pancreatic cancer. MCBB hosts East Division leader William Peace Tuesday, Feb. 4, and the night will focus on Tuggle.
In addition to the Tuggle Strong campaign, Meredith will recognize the 2018 volleyball and 2019 lacrosse championship Angels teams during the intermission. MCVB captured a share of the East Division title and went on to win the conference tournament crown for the second time in program history. MC Lax garnered their fourth regular season title and sixth USA South Championship during the 2019 season.
Halftime will begin with an encore performance from the new Meredith College Dance Crew, led by sophomore Ricaria Miller.
Fans will want to arrive early for the action-packed evening, as the Avenging Angels face off with a Pacer squad that remains undefeated in league play (12-0) and 19-2 overall. Meredith lost the first round of this year's series 74-63. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Weatherspoon Gym.
The USA South's Randy Tuggle was diagnosed last February with pancreatic cancer. Follow this link for an interview with Coach Tuggle on D3Hoops to share his story. His interview starts around the 48 minute mark. Fans may contribute to Coach Tuggle's medical expenses through a GoFundMe page, and any extra funds will be directed to a pancreatic research group.
