RALEIGH, N.C. -- Led by top performances from Kimberly Schuh and Kate Perko, the Meredith College Angels cruised to a 69-39 victory over the visiting Salem Spirits in Saturday's USA South action. The pair combined for 56 points, 35 rebounds, and nine assists in the win.
Meredith's inside combination of Schuh and Perko led to 81 percent of the Avenging Angels points in this afternoon's third conference win and second consecutive. Daia Dawkins battled inside for five boards and found Schuh on three occasions for a bucket. And one of her two steals finished in two-points for Schuh. Madison Gladwell forced five Salem turnovers and scored her lone three-pointer late in the second half to help the Angels to a 16-point halftime advantage.
Mikayla Thompson earned her sixth start of the season and spread her offensive contribution over three quarters in today's win. She helped move the ball for MCBB and pulled down one offensive rebound on the day. Zaina Hook entered from the bench and picked up one steal with a pair of boards for the Avenging Angels.
Salem's Aubrey Slaughter led her team with 13 points and six rebounds.
The Avenging Angels hit the road Wednesday night for a match-up at N.C. Wesleyan. The pair met just one week ago in an overtime thriller that ended in favor of the Bishops. Greensboro travels to Raleigh next Saturday for a 2 p.m. game in Weatherspoon.
