Bryce Smith - Senior Day Series

Bryce Smith - Senior Day Series

Raleigh, N.C. -- During the months of April and May, Meredith College athletics will highlight the senior student-athletes who will miss their much deserved Senior Day this spring.

Bryce Smith

A Red Springs, N.C., native and four-year student-athlete majoring in exercise and sport science, Bryce Smith received her team's Most Valuable Player honor last night during the 2020 Halo Awards. She completed the spring season leading the team both offensively and defensively, splitting her time between the outfield and behind the plate catching for the Angels' pitching staff.

Bryce also ranks in the top tier of the Meredith softball records in several categories. She ranks tied for second all-time with 22 runners caught stealing and would have set a new record this season without the unfortunate cancelation of spring sports. She holds the program record for runners picked off. Offensively, Bryce ranks 10th all-time in runs batted in and doubles, and she led the team in 2019 and 2020 in batting average and RBIs.

This year Bryce was poised to challenge the best players in the league. She finished ranked in the top-10 among USA South players with 14 runs batted in and doubles, two of her career strengths.

Bryce earned All-East second team honors and received the team's Most Valuable Offensive Player award that same year. Throughout her career Bryce played in 111 games with 106 starts. In 319 at-bats, she notched 97 hits with 19 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs, and 63 RBIs. Leading with a career hitting average of .378 this spring, Bryce notched a career average of .304 and a ninth-ranked slugging percentage of .486 all-time. She boasts a career fielding percentage of .962 with 74 assists, 332 putouts, and only 16 errors.
