RALEIGH, N.C. -- Meredith College athletics is proud to announce a sponsor agreement with CaribSea Restaurant on the coast of North Carolina. CaribSea has been pivotal in providing assistance to the upgrades of Weatherspoon Gym.
The staff for Meredith College's newest sport of field hockey continues to grow in preparation of the first season of competition in fall 2020. Former NCAA Division I player Colleen Cassada will begin her tenure as a volunteer assistant coach this week at the first college-sponsored field hockey clinic Saturday, Dec. 7.
As part of the USA South's Cans Across the Conference competition, the Meredith College Avenging Angels collected 1,150 non-perishable food items and donated to the Raleigh Rescue Mission. With 18 member institutions, the league presented 69,387 items to local organizations across the wide footprint of the conference.
Meredith College Athletic Director Jackie Myers announced the addition of Courtney Hexter to the Avenging Angels athletics staff. Hexter will direct the college's new field hockey program as Meredith's 10th varsity sport set to begin competition in fall 2020.
Meredith College has announced plans to add two new sports, bringing the Avenging Angels to ten sports. The most immediate addition shifts the two-year club golf program to varsity status beginning this fall. In Fall 2020, Meredith will add field hockey to the atheltics lineup.
The Meredith College athletics program opened 2019-2020 Tuesday evening with the annual Core Value Kickoff. A special event established by Athletic Director Jackie Myers early in her tenure at Meredith, this year's agenda focused on practicing integrity.
