MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- The host Pfeiffer Falcons shut out Meredith College 2-0 in Saturday's USA South Women's Soccer pairing.

With senior forward and leading scorer Jessica Wallace sidelined by injury for the remainder of the season, Meredith must find a path to the net utilizing a slate of newcomers on the young squad. Senior Molly Thomas has stepped into her offensive roll with leadership and strength, and she managed two attempts at the goal this afternoon. Katie Carter's return to the turf this fall has proven relevant to the Angels attack, and she recorded one shot on goal alongside Katie Quinn and Madison Thompson.

Kirstie King heads up the defensive line, but the Falcons found a gap through freshman goalie Miranda Lutz, once in each period.

Pfeiffer's Mackenzie Pruitt scored the game winner in the seventh minute of the match with help from Meredith Manson. And Pruitt served up the final goal early in the second frame to Madeline Capel for the conference win.

Lutz recorded two saves in her second career loss, and PU's Kaley Wyatt notched four in the Falcon's eighth overall win and fourth in league play.

The Avenging Angels host Greensboro College Wednesday night in the final home game of the regular season. First kick is slated for 6 p.m. on the Angels' turf.
