GREENSBORO, N.C. -- In Tuesday's USA South women's lacrosse match, Meredith College showed no mercy in a 24-4 victory over the Greensboro Pride to remain undefeated in the conference. Led by Carlee Joseph who scored 5-of-5 shots attempted, the Avenging Angels outshot the hosts 32-6 to dominate the match.
Led by Holly Hite with 10, the Angels collected 22 draw controls to just 8 by the Pride to control the match. Meredith was perfect in transition and turned the ball over on just eight occasions throughout 60 mintes of play.
The Angels scored nine of the first 10 goals during the first 20 minutes of play and cruised to a 16-point first half lead at the intermission. Meredith slowed the pace of their attack during the second half to finish off Greensboro.
Hite joined Joseph with five goals, and Julie Capretti finished with four goals, two assists. Rookie Lilia Cruz posted five points on three goals, two assists, and Sarah Arbes netted one goal to go along with five draw controls. Joy Deitrich collected the lone save for the Angels to earn her second career win in goal.
Greensboro's Natalie Ritchie scored two of the Pride's four goals, and Peyton Joyce collected five draw controls in the loss.
Meredith returns to their home turf Saturday for a non-conference match versus the USA South West Division's Brevard. First draw is slated for Noon.
