  • USA South All-Academic Honorees Announced
    June 12, 2017
    A record 76 individuals representing 61 percent of Meredith College student-athletes were named to the 2017 USA South All-Academic team as announced Monday from the conference office. The field of honorees represent each of Meredith's eight varsity sports of basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, and volleyball.

  • Lacrosse Battles to End in 11-5 NCAA Tournament Loss to Eagles
    May 13, 2017
    In Saturday's round one action of the NCAA Division Women's Lacrosse Tournament, Meredith College lost 11-5 to a strong defensive team in the University of Mary Washington. Jennifer Halvorson, Jordyn King, and Molly Miller led the Avenging Angels with two points apiece.
  • Joseph/Hite Earn All-Region Honors

    Meredith College lacrosse players Carlee Joseph and Holly Hite collected Division III All-Chesapeake Region honors Friday as announced from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association. Joseph's first team selection marks her second such honor, and Hite was named to the Chesapeake region's second team.

    Meredith College lacrosse standout Carlee Joseph earned selection to the Academic All-District® women's at-large team as announced Thursday from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The program recognizes the nation's student-athletes who perform at the top of their game both academically and athletically.
  • Meredith Lacrosse Graduation Ceremony, May 2017

    Meredith’s Avenging Angels Lacrosse team is playing in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament on May 13. Since the seniors on the team would miss their commencement ceremony, Meredith honored these students with their own min-commencement on May 11, 2017, in Johnson Hall rotunda. President Jo Allen, ’80, Vice President for College Programs Jean Jackson, ’75, and Chaplain Donna Battle spoke at the event, which incorporated Meredith’s long-standing traditions from commencement weekend including Class Day and the Baccalaureate Worship Service in an effort to give seniors Alyssa Codispoti, Jennifer Halvorson, Molly Miller, and Katherine Sills a truly special Meredith graduation experience. Meredith is a private college in Raleigh, N.C., known for educating and inspiring both undergraduate and graduate students to live with integrity and provide leadership for the needs, opportunities, and challenges of society. Grounded in the liberal arts and committed to professional preparation, Meredith is respected nationally as a vibrant learning environment in which students enhance their strengths, broaden their perspectives, and prepare for lives of impact and distinction.

    Meredith College President Jo Allen, Vice President for College Programs Jean Jackson, and the athletics department will host a mini-commencement ceremony Thursday, May 11, at 10 a.m. in front of Johnson Hall for this year’s four lacrosse seniors – Alyssa Codispoti, Jennifer Halvorson, Molly Miller, and Katherine Sills.

    Sunday's NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Selection Show revealed the Meredith College Angels' next opponent as the 15th ranked Mary Washington Eagles. The teams will convene May 13 at host Washington & Lee to face off for a chance to play the Generals the following afternoon.

  • Meredith Lacrosse Earns USA South Sportsmanship Award

    The Meredith College Avenging Angels collected the USA South Women's Lacrosse Sportsmanship Award for the second consecutive year. The conference honor launched in 2004 as part of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's commitment to sportsmanlike environments in the competitive arena.
  • Meredith Athletes Recognized During Annual Awards Ceremony

    Meredith College Athletic Director Jackie Myers and her staff recognized the outstanding achievements of the Avenging Angels during Tuesday evening's Annual Athletic Awards Ceremony. This year's new event format included a ceremony held in the college's Jones Auditorium with a dessert reception following in the newly renovated Johnson Hall Rotunda.
  • MC Lax Stings Hornets with 11-10 Victory

    Carlee Joseph and Holly Hite led the Meredith College lacrosse Angels with four goals apiece in a 11-10 victory over the host Lynchburg Hornets to close out the regular season with 17 consecutive wins.
  • Barkley to Take on New Role with Meredith Athletics

    Meredith College Athletic Director Jackie Myers is pleased to announce Fiona Barkley's new role as the department's assistant athletic director for advancement and external relations beginning August 1, 2017. Thanks to the NCAA Division III Strategic Alliance Matching Grant, Barkley will resign as head volleyball coach to take on a new challenge within Meredith athletics.

  • Golf Classic Rescheduled for May 8
    April 23, 2017
    Due to the rainy weather forecasted for today and tomorrow, the 19th Annual Meredith College Golf Classic at Brier Creek Country Club has been postponed until Monday, May 8, 2017. The Meredith athletics department will host the full event complete with 18 holes of golf, silent auction, raffles, and dinner, beginning with check-in at 11:30 a.m. and the shotgun start at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 8.
  • USA South Conference Presidents Cup Standings

    Meredith College finished the year ranked second in final USA South Women's Presidents Cup standings, just one and one-half points behind the leader. Regular season championships in soccer, lacrosse, and softball, along with tournament titles in volleyball and lacrosse elevated the Avenging Angels point total.
  • Lacrosse Angels Win Fourth USA South Tournament Championship
    April 15, 2017
    The top-seeded Meredith College Avenging Angels captured the program's fourth consecutive USA South Women's Lacrosse Tournament Championship with an 18-7 victory over the third-seeded Piedmont Lions. Midfielder Holly Hite earned the Most Valuable Player award with her performance across the two-day event.
  • Lacrosse Dominates Pride 19-5 to Advance to League Championship
    April 14, 2017
    The top-seed Meredith College lacrosse Angels cruised past the fourth-seed Greensboro Pride 19-5 in the first of Friday's USA South Tournament Semifinal pairing. The Avenging Angels controlled the ball throughout the 60 minutes of play with 21 draw controls to just 4 from Greensboro and 39 shots to just 9 from the Pride.
  • USA South Player of the Year Joseph Leads Slate of Nine Lacrosse Angels with League Honors

    For the second consecutive year junior attacker Carlee Joseph leads the Meredith College Avenging Angels as the USA South Women's Lacrosse Player of the Year. Nine Angels were recognized in this year's conference awards, as the team collected its second consecutive Regular Season Championship.
  • Lacrosse Angels Cruise Past Pride 18-6 to Close Regular Season

    In Saturday's final regular season pairing, the Meredith College lacrosse squad cruised past the host Greensboro Pride 18-6. The two teams will face off again next Friday morning in the first USA South Conference Tournament semifinal.

    Meredith College lacrosse clinched the program's second consecutive USA South Regular Season Championship Tuesday evening with a 19-2 victory over the visiting Ferrum Panthers. Avenging Angel Molly Miller dished out a match-high five assists in the win.

    Three Meredith College student-athletes earned recognition Monday from the USA South Conference office. Carlee Joseph collected her second selection this season as the women's lacrosse Player of the Week, and teammate Alyssa Codispoti was recognized for the second time this year as the sport's Defensive Player of the Week. Julia Cerasi was tabbed Softball's Rookie Pitcher of the Week for the second time as well.
  • Lacrosse Senior Day Ends in 19-3 Victory Over Hawks

    Sunday's Senior Day match versus the visting Huntingdon Hawks wrapped up a conference doubleheader weekend for the Meredith College lacrosse Angels with a 19-3 victory. With just two USA South matches remaining, MC Lax leads the league 4-0. Alyssa Codispoti, Jennifer Halvorson, Molly Miller, and Katie Sills were recognized prior to the first draw.
  • Hite's 12 Draw Controls Propel Lacrosse to 23-3 Victory Over LaGrange

    Meredith College midfielder Holly Hite collected a career-high 12 draw controls to help the Avenging Angels control Saturday's 23-3 victory over the USA South's LaGrange Panthers. Carlee Joseph led the match with five goals.
  • Hite on Division III Watch List as Top Player

    Meredith College lacrosse standout Holly Hite garnered a nod from the sport's premiere media outlet Inside Lacrosse in Tuesday's "Midseason Report." Hite was 1-of-10 players on the Player of the Year watch list, and each of the other 9 play for one of this week's top-25 programs.
  • Maria Codispoti Nets Game Winner in 12-11 OT Victory Over Bridgewater

    In Wednesday afternoon's non-conference action versus Bridgewater, Meredith College lacrosse downed the Eagles 12-11 in a sudden-victory overtime thriller. Jordyn King controlled the opening draw in the extra period, and Maria Codispoti netted the game winner.

    Meredith College freshman softball pitcher Julia Cerasi and junior lacrosse defender Cameron Ruffin earned a nod Monday from the USA South Athletic Conference. Cerasi garnered her first Rookie Pitcher of the Week selection, and Ruffin was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
