GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Greensboro Pride handed Meredith College a 60-48 loss in Sunday's USA South action. Kimberly Schuh scored a game-high 17 points with 9-10 free throw shooting to lead the Avenging Angels.
On the heels of yesterday's best offensive performance this season, the Angels closed out the first quarter with a 17-12 lead over the Pride thanks in part to a trio of treys from Chandler Hines. But the advantage was shortlived as Meredith struggled to maintain the momentum into the second stanza.
Greensboro distributed their second period effort across seven scorers to regain the lead heading into the half. Only Kirstie King and Janah Hassell found the rim for the Avenging Angels, as Meredith trailed the hosts by five at the break.
The Pride defensive forced a series of Meredith turnovers throughout the third quarter, and Greensboro held their biggest lead of the game at 18 points with seconds left in the period.
Seven fourth-period fouls from Greensboro gave the Angels a chance to do what they do well, and Meredith scored 9-11 at the stripe, including 5-5 from Kirstie King, to pull back to within 12 before time ran out.
Schuh recorded her fourth double-double on the season with a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with her 17 points. King scored four field goals with seven-of-eight from the free throw line to finish with 15, and Meghan Pleasants added four points with seven boards on the inside.
Greensboro's Rasheika Gregory finished with 15 points, one steal, and one assist on her Senior Day, and Lauren Jenkins entered from the bench to grab a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Avenging Angels host their final two regular season games beginning with rival William Peace Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Head Coach Melinda Campbell and her staff will honor seniors Chandler Hines and Meghan Pleasants Saturday, Feb. 10, just prior to the Salem game.
