    Meredith College softball senior Eran Artigues shares her "Strong Story." A double major in mathematics and computer science, Artigues has "learned to be okay with who [she is]." As a recruited student-athlete, she credits Meredith for choosing her, and "[she is] sure glad it did."
  • Athletic Awards Night Celebrates the Angels

    Thursday evening's Athletic Awards Night, the second in its new format, celebrated much success and dedication from student-athletes, coaches, and staff. Senior softball infielder Julia Allsbrook, the night's emcee, was recognized with the program-wide Dean Burris Student-Athlete Award, and senior lacrosse attack Carlee Joseph collected her second consecutive Athlete of the Year honor.

    Meredith College softball senior Haley Ervin shares her "Strong Story." A mathematics major earning a teaching licensure, Ervin looks forward to sharing her love of math to future students. "[Math] is more than just the numbers," said Ervin.
  • Bucklin Ends Career Atop Meredith Softball RBI Record

    The Meredith College softball team closed out the 2018 season with a four-game, non-conference, weekend road series. Senior Brittany Bucklin ended her four-year career as the program leader with 120 runs batted in and started in every game since joining the Avenging Angels softball program in 2015 to lead both categories with 164.
  • Artigues Named to All-Tournament Team

    Meredith College senior Eran Artigues was named to the USA South Conference Softball All-Tournament team at the conclusion of yesterday's final round. The Avenging Angels went 2-2 in LaGrange, Georgia, last weekend with wins over Averett and Piedmont.
  • Softball Angels Rally in USA South Tournament

    The Meredith College softball Angels rallied to a 2-1 day-two record in the USA South Conference Tournament Saturday. Meredith edged Averett 6-5 to open the day, finished off Piedmont 9-1 in six innings, and rallied late in a 7-5 loss to Salem, eliminating the Avenging Angels from the tournament.
  • Softball Suffers 2-0 Loss in USA South Tournament

    The East second-seed Meredith College softball squad suffered a 2-0 loss to the West four-seed Covenant Scots in Friday's USA South Tournament action at the Spring Festival in LaGrange, Georgia. With the loss the Avenging Angels moved to the elimination bracket and will play East third-seed Averett University Saturday at 10 a.m. at Shuford Fields.
  • Meredith Student-Athletes Collect $2,641 for American Cancer Society

    The Meredith College student-athlete collected $2641 througout the spring semester for donation to the American Cancer Society as part of the USA South's spring service initiative Pennies for a Purpose. Led by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) on each member campus, the conference collected a combined record-setting $20,204.93 to be donated to various organizations.
  • Softball Angels Sweep Ferrum to Advance in USA South Tournament

    The East second-seed Meredith College softball Angels knocked off the visiting East fifth-seed Ferrum Panthers Friday in round one of the USA South Tournament. Kelsey Mabe launched back-to-back doubles to score two of three runs in a 3-0 game one victory, and Eran Artigues advanced on a walk in the seventh inning of game two in a two-run frame for the sweep.
  • Eight Softball Angels Collect USA South Honors

    Eight starters on this year's Meredith College softball squad earned recognition in Thursday's announcement of the USA South Conference end-of-season awards. Senior right fielder Erica Occena stands out as the team's USA South All-Conference first team honoree and was joined by senior first baseman Julia Allsbrook and junior catcher Rachel Peel as East Division first team picks.
  • Bucklin Earns Nod from NFCA

    Meredith College senior third baseman Brittany Bucklin earned a nod from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for her top performance last week. Bucklin notched a .529 hitting percentage on the week as the Avenging Angels posted a 5-1 record, all versus USA South competition.

    With yesterday's conclusion of the USA South regular season softball schedule, the Meredith College Angels claimed the East Division's second seed behind the top-seeded Salem Spirits. A top-three finish awarded Meredith hosting privileges of next weekend's round one series versus the East's fifth-seed Ferrum Panthers.

    The Meredith College Avenging Angels softball squad recorded a 1-1 split Saturday versus the host Ferrum Panthers to finish the regular season as the East Division's second seed. Twelve hits and Taylor Jackson in the circle led Meredith to a 9-3 win in game one. But a five-run, fifth inning from the Panthers in game two left Ferrum with a 6-2 win for the split.
  • Softball Angels Climb the East Division Standings with Pair of Wins at Baldwin

    Today's doubleheader sweep at Mary Baldwin University placed the Meredith College softball Angels at the top of the East Division alongside Salem. Tomorrow's results across the conference will determine USA South Tournament seeding and hosting privileges for next weekend's divisional playoffs.

    Meredith College softball swept rival William Peace for the second time in six days with an 11-2, five-inning win in game one, and a 6-1 victory in the nightcap. Julia Allsbrook's three-RBI homer secured the win in game two for the sweep.

    As Meredith College Head Coach Kim Scavone celebrated her nine seniors on Senior Day, the softball team put together a pair of non-conference wins over the St. Andrews Knights, 2-0 and 9-5. Today's fourteen hits, 10 RBI, 42 putouts, 11 assists, and nine strikeouts demonstrate a glimpse of the impact from the class of 2018.
  • Tough Day for Softball Versus #8 Captains

    The host Christopher Newport Captains, ranked eighth nationally among Division III softball programs, swept Meredith College 17-4 and 8-0 in Saturday's non-conference action. Eran Artigues with two RBI and Maria Annunziata three-for-three at the plate led the Avenging Angels.

    After a midweek, four-game stint in Kissimmee, Florida, the Meredith College softball Angels returned to USA South Conference play versus the Salem Spirits. Bryce Smith drives in five RBI on two hits to lead Meredith to a 9-3 victory in game one, but a three-run Salem homer in game two finishes off the split.

    In Wednesday's day-two of the Sun Kissed Games, the Meredith College softball Angels struggled to keep pace with their opponents. The Montclair State Red Hawks finished off Meredith 7-2, and Aurora University jumped out early for a 5-0 victory over the Avenging Angels.

    Meredith College split in day one of two at the Sun Kissed Games in Florida today with a 5-3 loss to the Illinois Lady Blues, followed by a 14-4 clinic over WPI. Both games ended in a walk-off homer, including a three-RBI dinger from Eran Artigues in game two.

    Meredith College recorded a split with the USA South's Methodist Monarchs on a 3-2 loss in game one followed by an 8-0, five-inning victory. Maria Annunziata led with four hits on the day, and Myah Morse earned her 10th career win in the circle.

    In Saturday's USA South Conference opener Meredith College softball split the day with the visiting N.C. Wesleyan Bishops. The Avenging Angels captured a 3-1 victory in game one, and Wesleyan rallied in the sixth inning of game two to secure the split.
  • Big Hits at Guilford Lead to 7-6 Angels Win; Game Two Suspended
    February 28, 2018
    A seventh-inning, three-run homer from Eran Artigues led to a 7-6 Meredith College victory over the host Guilford Quakers Wednesday afternoon. Game two was suspended due to darkness at 9-9 in the bottom of the fourth frame. A combined eight home runs, six doubles in 46 hits defined the exciting doubleheader.
