Thanks to a generous gift, Meredith College launched a club golf program in September 2017. Athletic Director Jackie Myers will oversee the program during the planned two-year period with the potential for development into a new Avenging Angels varsity team.
Head Coach Jimmy Hamilton will look to field a team with a history of competition and develop a culture of dedication to improvement that aligns with the four core values of Meredith athletics - discipline, integrity, respect, responsibility.
Wildwood Green Golf Club will serve as the team's home course. Originally established in 1986, the Raleigh, North Carolina, course completed a renovation of the putting surfaces to Champion Ultra Dwarf Bermudagrass in September, providing excellent conditions all year round.
Meredith's club golf program functions as a member of the National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA), the governing body for collegiate club golf. With the core values of community, inclusivity, and commitment, NCCGA regulates co-ed local and national competitions for any active college student. More than 350 colleges field club golf with more than 15 in North Carolina. NCCGA competition features at least two weekend regional, in-state competitions each semester with a chance to advance to a national competition.
