Meredith Student-Athletes Collect $2,641 for American Cancer Society

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Meredith College student-athlete collected $2641 througout the spring semester for donation to the American Cancer Society as part of the USA South's spring service initiative Pennies for a Purpose. Led by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) on each member campus, the conference collected a combined record-setting $20,204.93 to be donated to various organizations.

The Meredith Avenging Angels placed third in the conference competition this spring, the best finish since the college won the title in 2012. Averett University won the 2018 Pennies Championship for the fourth consecutive year collecting more than $5200. Over the 11-year history of the program, the USA South institutions have donated $78,532.89 to local organizations.

Each Meredith athletics team was responsible for establishing a method for collecting money towards the program's combined total. The attached photograph recognizes the Avenging Angels lacrosse team with Brevard during the "Shots for Scott" game, which brought in more than $2200 towards the total gift to the ACS.
